The Shard & The Gherkin, London

Elise and Joe live in Hong Kong and flew over to have their Wedding at the Gherkin this July just gone. This was the week that we had 35c temperatures in London during the heatwave but we didn’t feel it (go aircon)!

They both prepared for the day on the other side of the River Thames at The Shard. Before leaving though they had a tea ceremony with their family for good fortune.

On this occassion we took some group photos outside which was a first for me. I’ve covered a lot of weddings at The Gherkin and usually I take all of these indoors, keeping the outdoors for couple portraits but it worked well this way. Any larger groupings took place inside just before dinner.

We were spoilt with an absolutely beautiful sunset at around 8.30pm, the timing of which fell just after dinner but before the dancing kicked off. Perfect!
