Charlotte & Ben’s Beautiful Upwaltham Barns Wedding

Charlotte and Ben’s wedding was a stunning celebration filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. With over 50 guests in attendance, the day flowed seamlessly from charming locations to heartfelt traditions, making it a pleasure to capture every moment.

Preparation at Amberly and Jasmine Cottage

The morning began with Ben’s groom prep in a funky private rental in Amberly, a place brimming with character and energy, setting the tone for the day. After capturing moments of Ben with his groomsmen, I made my way to Jasmine Cottage, nestled on the grounds of Upwaltham Barns. Here, Charlotte was getting ready amidst a serene setting, surrounded by her bridal party. The cosy and picturesque cottage provided the perfect backdrop for those intimate pre-ceremony shots.

A Picturesque Ceremony at St Giles’ Church

The ceremony took place at St Giles’ Church in Graffham, a quintessentially English church set in the scenic countryside near Petworth. The charm of this location, combined with the couple’s palpable excitement, created a magical atmosphere. Following the ceremony, guests showered Charlotte and Ben with almost dangerous amounts of confetti, a joyful chaos that set the tone for the celebrations ahead.

Reception at Upwaltham Barns

Charlotte and Ben arrived at Upwaltham Barns in a vintage VW Camper, a playful touch that suited the venue’s rustic charm. The courtyard buzzed with excitement as drinks were served, and I captured candid moments of guests mingling and laughing. While the newlyweds enjoyed their time with family and friends, I photographed the beautifully set South Barn dining area, ready to welcome guests for dinner.

The couple’s portraits were taken in the Hidden Garden and around the venue’s house. These serene spots allowed us to capture intimate moments without keeping Charlotte and Ben away from their guests for long. Upwaltham Barns offers endless picturesque locations, each more charming than the last, making my job a delight.

Golden Hour & Evening Festivities

As the sun began to set, we took a short walk past the wildflower meadow and up the hill to catch the golden hour. Timing is key here as the sun dips below the horizon earlier due to the surrounding hills. These photos, bathed in warm light, perfectly encapsulated the romance of the day.

The evening transitioned into a lively celebration. Coffee was served in the East Barn, drinks flowed in the Stable Barn, and the first dance took place back in the East Barn to the sounds of a fantastic live band. Guests danced the night away, rounding off a perfect day.

Why Upwaltham Barns is a Dream Venue
